On July 26, Overseas Investment Promotion Conference with the theme of "Gathering in Nanhai, Winning the Future" was held in Thousand Lantern Lake Hotel in Guicheng sub-district, Nanhai. This "online + offline" conference, which were broadcast live globally, set up main venue in Nanhai with six sub-venues in the United States, Singapore, Japan, Chinese Hongkong, and other places. About 400 people attended the conference in the main venue and sub-venues. Nearly 120000 people watched conference live. At the conference, the signing ceremony of overseas projects was held; 10 projects in the fields of science and technology, intelligent equipment and high-end services were signed on site, with a total amount of USD 800 million, equivalent to RMB 5 billion.

At the conference, Mr. Gu Yaohui, secretary of CPC Nanhai District Committee, made an excellent introduction to "yesterday", "today" and "tomorrow" of Nanhai in eight Chinese characters respectively, and sincerely invited compatriots and friends at home and abroad to visit Nanhai for investigation, negotiation, investment and development.

Nanhai sends out sincere invitation to overseas Chinese

The conference originates from two family letters.

"For their hometown--Nanhai, a lot of overseas Chinese are eager for more understanding of the development, more exchanges with government leaders and more contributions for the construction." At the beginning of July this year, Mr. Guan Jiacheng, a senior overseas Chinese of America and chairman of Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of America, forwarded a letter to Mr.Gu Yaohui, secretary of CPC Nanhai District Committee, by the United Front Work Department of Nanhai District Committee. The letter was full of love for hometown and strong desire for the construction.

Gu Yaohui responded to the letter in person at the first time on the concerns from overseas Chinese and invited them to make investment and start business for mutual development and further progress.

Nanhai held the Overseas Investment Promotion Conference, in order to give full play to the advantages of overseas resources, to strengthen overseas publicity, investment promotion for capital and intelligence, and to encourage and attract the support for the construction of a modern and dynamic new Nanhai from compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, overseas Chinese and foreign friends. Overseas Chinese and 3.7 million Nanhai people will work together for a bright future for Nanhai.

Mr. Gu Yaohui mentioned that the purpose of this event is to build a platform to connect people more closely and form a shared “Moments”, so that everyone can have more confidence in the future, the investment and the development of Nanhai.

In fact, in the development history of Nanhai in the past 40 years, overseas investment is definitely a very important part.

42 years ago, Nanhai held a "Golden Dragon Gala" in the Tianhu Lake of Xiqiao Mountain, attracting lots of compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and overseas to make investment in Nanhai, hence, Nanhai’s opening to the outside world began.

In this year's Dragon Boat Festival, Nanhai once again witnessed the grand event of the "Golden Dragon Gala", telling the whole society that Nanhai would never stop reforming and opening-up to the outside world, and Nanhai sincerely invited overseas Chinese from home and abroad to invest in Nanhai for mutual benefit and development, and a win-win situation.

This time, Nanhai held the Overseas Investment Promotion Conference, and once again sent an invitation to overseas to make investment and start business for mutual development and further progress in Nanhai.

Mr. Ding Xifeng, standing member of Foshan Municipal CPC Committee and director of Foshan United Front Work Department, said that Foshan was a famous hometown for overseas Chinese, with 1.5 million overseas Chinese in Hong Kong, Macao and abroad, whose hometown is Foshan. They have been playing an important role in promoting the city's economic development and opening up.

Ten signed projects involve a total investment of 5 billion yuan

Since the beginning of this year, Nanhai has continuously released positive signals that there is land for good projects and space for good industries. The conference has achieved fruitful results. Ten projects were signed, including the projects of Dr. Kong Global R&D Innovation and Cross-border E-commerce Center, Yuwant Live Broadcast E-commerce Regional Intelligent Delivery Center and High-end Advanced Electronic Adhesive Material Industrialization, etc. The total volume of the signed projects reached USD 800 million, equivalent to about 5 billion yuan.

In Mr. Gu Yaohui's view, Nanhai’s vitality comes from industrial transformation and upgrade. At present, Nanhai is building a modern industrial system with the main orientation of Two-high and Four-new industries. On the one hand, Nanhai has promulgated work plan for high quality development of traditional industries to promote the transformation and upgrade of 12 traditional industries; on the other hand, we will unswervingly work hard for greater investment promotion and develop emerging industries such as new energy, new materials, new generation of electronic information, and new bio-medicine.

The 10 projects signed on the conference cover the fields of science and technology, intelligent equipment, high-end services, etc, which are closely related to Nanhai’s Two-high and Four-new modern industrial system. Among them, Dr. Kong Global R&D Innovation and Cross-border E-commerce Center will make full use of Dr. Kong's brand to create the project of "Dr. Kong Global R&D Innovation and Cross-border E-commerce Center"; Yuanlin Advanced Manufacturing Industry Project will undertake the scientific and technological innovation achievements in research and application of new materials industry in Hong Kong and Macao, so as to build a new material industry cluster highland in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area. The project of Yuwant Live Broadcast E-commerce Regional Intelligent Delivery Center plans to build an intelligent digital comprehensive area, which will integrate the functions of office building for live broadcasting, intelligent packaging center, distribution and settlement center, high standard cold chain, high standard warehouse, etc. It will highly integrate the development demands of online and offline live broadcast e-commerce business, and create a competitive distribution system for supply chain.

At the conference, Mr. Liu Jianyu, general manager of Tamura Automotive Electronics (Foshan) Co., Ltd., and Mr. Chen Junjiang, deputy director of Jihua Laboratory, shared their experiences of investment and employment in Nanhai. They both agreed that Nanhai has preferred investment environment, broad development prospects, advanced business philosophy and mature business management experience, and that Nanhai has a promising future. Mr. Liu Jianyu mentioned that although affected by the epidemic, the project enjoys smooth construction with perfect transportation, logistics and supporting facilities, as well as profound business environment. Mr. Chen Junjiang said that Nanhai has good policies for key platforms and talents. He can always feel that Nanhai attaches great importance to talents and the supporting system, and provides scientific research and entrepreneurial environment for high-end talents.

At the conference, responsible officials of Nanhai relevant departments introduced in detail the investment and business environment as well as talent policies; they also interacted with overseas participants to enhance understanding, laying a solid foundation for the intention of future investment cooperation.
